The Vallejo Admirals announced today that outfielder and pitcher d’Aundray Van Slyke has signed with the ballclub for the 2018 season. Along with several of his Admirals teammates, manager PJ Phillips, and hitting coach Nick Akins, Van Slyke begins the 2018 campaign in pursuit of a second straight championship. The native of Vaughn, Wash. earned a ring with the Plattsburgh Redbirds, the 2017 champions of the Northeast-based Empire Pro League.

“We look forward to having d’Aundray on the team,” said Admirals assistant general manager Matt Snyder, “and we believe that his range of skills will push everyone to compete at their highest level.”

In 123 plate appearances last season for Plattsburgh, Van Slyke notched a .273/.341/.527 slash line, with two home runs and 21 runs batted in. He also contributed 9 1/3 innings on the mound and saved two games for the Redbirds. Van Slyke’s 38 games with Plattsburgh followed a successful stint in the 2017 California Winter League.

Van Slyke completed his collegiate career as a two-way threat for St. Andrews University, an NAIA school in North Carolina; he transferred there from Washington’s Pierce College, which competes in the NWAC, the nation’s largest community college conference.
