From the Vallejo Times-Herald

After back-to-back games where the Vallejo Admirals fell behind early, the team needed nothing more than a decent outing from one of their starters. They got one on Thursday night from Jalen Miller Sr.

Miller (1-4) gave up just one earned run in seven innings while allowing seven hits and walking two as he earned the win in the Admirals’ 3-2 victory over the Pittsburg Diamonds at Winter Chevrolet Stadium.

Eli Garcia earned the save for Vallejo (29-26) as he pitched two innings and one hit and one earned run.

The Admirals’ offense got all their runs by way of solo homers, as Chris Fornaci, Rian Kiniry and Vladimir Gomez all hit a long ball in the win.

Gomez and Kiniry hit their home runs in the fourth inning against losing pitcher Jordan Brink, while Fornaci accounted for the third run with his smash in the seventh. Fornaci’s home run was his 17th of the season, while Kiniry’s shot was his 16th. Foraci is third in the league in homers and Kiniry is fourth.

Brink worked six innings and allowed eight hits and two runs. He struck out eight and walked three.

Gomez, who hit his fifth home run of the season, collected four hits total as he raised his average above .300 to .304.

David Kiriakos had two hits for Vallejo, while Nick Crouse had two hits as well.

The Diamonds (24-31) made it a 3-2 game in the ninth with a sacrifice fly from Brett Smith before Lopez got Morgan Blatnik to ground out to end the game.

Vallejo continues its two-game road series against Pittsburg on Friday before returning home for games on Saturday and Sunday with games against Martinez and Napa.
