The Vallejo Admirals completed their first sweep of 2016 after a convincing 8-1 win over the host Pittsburg Diamonds on Thursday in a Pacific Association series at City Park.

Lefty Brent Adheen (1-0) pitched 7 2/3 dominant innings, allowing four hits and one run. He struck out six and walked five. Tim Watson pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, fanning three.

The Admirals scored five runs against Pittsburg starter Dylan Brammer, although just two of those were earned.

Joseph Hicks was 3-for-4 to pace the Admirals’ offense. Tim Williams and Gerald Bautista both had two hits while Cyle Figueroa and Gadiel Baez both knocked in two runs.

Lydell Moseby and Figueroa both had RBIs as Vallejo took a 3-0 lead in the fourth. The Admirals added three more in the sixth as Baez ripped a two-run double and Hicks had an RBI single.

A Diamonds’ error led to the seventh run and Bautista’s RBI single plated the eighth run in the top of the ninth.

Vallejo (20-31, 5-7) has won four straight for the first time this season.

The Diamonds (25-26, 6-6) scored their lone run in the eighth.

The Admirals start a three-game, home series with the Diamonds starting at 6:35 p.m. on Friday. David Dinelli is slated to start.

Friday is “Ladies Night,” Saturday’s 5 p.m. game is “African American Heritage Night” and Sunday’s 1 p.m. series finale is “Critter Day.”
