From the Vallejo Times-Herald

The Vallejo Admirals offense came alive on Saturday night at Wilson Park as they defeated Martinez 9-7.

Vallejo (30-27) built a 7-0 lead after four innings and then held on for the victory.

Rian Kiniry had two hits, including a home run, while Brandon Fischer also homered. David Kiriakos had three hits, including a double. He also walked twice.

Already up 3-0 after the first inning due to a few errors by the Clippers, Vallejo increased the lead to 5-0 in the third on Kiniry’s 17th home run of the season.

Fischer made it 7-0 in the fourth with his eighth long ball of the season, as he drove home himself and Nick Crouse, who had walked earlier in the inning.

Admirals starting pitcher Frank Valentino earned the win by going six innings and five earned runs and six hits. He also struck out 10 batters. Eli Garcia earned the save for Vallejo.

The Clippers closed the gap to 7-6 in the seventh thanks to a two-run single by Jimmy Lunardelli, but Vallejo added two more insurance runs in the bottom half of the frame. Those runs came on a Nick Akins Sr. RBI single and an RBI groundout by Cyle Figueroa.

Vallejo plays at home on Sunday against Pittsburg in another one-game series before playing another two games against Martinez at home on Tuesday and Wednesday.
