Taylor Thurber helped the Sonoma Stompers inch closer to the second-half championship in the Pacific Association.

Thurber and two relievers combined on a three-hitter as the Vallejo Admirals lost 6-0.

Thurber allowed just four hits and struck out five in six innings for the win as the Stompers (44-29, 21-13) reduced their magic number to three for clinching the second half title and the overall league championship. Second-place San Rafael lost to Pittsburg 6-3. Vallejo (30-43, 15-19) was eliminated from playoff contention with the defeat.

Kida De La Cruz suffered the loss for the Admirals. He allowed nine hits and five runs over five innings. The Admirals stranded 12 runners on base.

Patrick Moriarty had two of the Admirals’ six hits. Darian Sandford, vying for a chance to steal 100 bases, was 0-for-4. He was caught stealing once.

The series resumes Wednesday and Thursday.
