The Admirals lost to the Pittsburg Diamonds 7-5 on Sunday in the final game of a three-game series at Winter Chevrolet Stadium, and final game in Pittsburg in 2017 for the Vallejo.

The Admirals had their five-game winning streak snapped, but picked up a series win over the Diamonds (29-28, 8-10). Vallejo is now 21-36 overall, but 9-9 in the second-half standings.

Vallejo scored three first-inning runs but Pittsburg did not back down. Tillman Pugh cracked his 12th homer with a solo shot over the batter’s eye in Pittsburg in the fifth. Graylin Derke hit his fourth, a solo shot in the sixth, to get his team to within two runs, but the Admirals would not get any closer. Pugh’s 12 homers are tied for second in single-season Admirals history. He has a franchise-best 27 for his career with the Admirals.

In the first, Shawn Payne had a two-run double and Ryan Rodriguez added an RBI single against Pittsburg starter Tyler Stirewalt, but Stirewalt settled down from there to earn the win.

Mahlik Jones suffered the loss for Vallejo. He went four innings and allowed seven hits and four runs.

Chevy Clarke and Quintin Rohrbaugh both had two hits for the Admirals. Wes Wallace had two hits for the Diamonds, including his 12th homer.

The Admirals start a three-game series at first-place Sonoma starting on Tuesday, trailing the Stompers by three games in the Pacific Association second-half standings.
