The Vallejo Admirals got a solid start from Peter Reyes and knocked off the Pittsburg Diamonds 6-4 at Winter Chevrolet Park.
Reyes, the Benicia High grad, went the first four innings, allowing one hit and one run. He struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Reyes did not qualify for a win so the victory went to reliever Amilcar Cruz, who worked three innings and allowed three runs. Tim Holmes pitched the final two innings did not allow a hit and notched the save.
The Admirals made good use of their seven hits. All six runs came against losing pitcher Jordan Brink, who struck out 10 and walked four in 7 1/3 innings.
Vallejo (26-23) took a 2-1 lead in the third on a two-run Chevy Clarke homer as Chris Fornaci was hit with a pitch and aboard on the homer. It was Clarke’s seventh homer.
The Admirals made it 6-1 with a three-run eighth as Nick Akins Sr. had an RBI double and Rian Kiniry added a two-run single. Akins has 57 RBIs, which leads the league. His .332 batting average is seventh in the league.
Pittsburg (22-27) made it 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth on Morgan Blatnik’s three-run homer.
The two teams wrap up the Pacific Association series on Friday at Winter Chevrolet Stadium. The Admirals return home on Saturday and Sunday to host Martinez.
