VALLEJO, Calif. — Corey Dempster’s three-run home run in the seventh inning broke a 6-6 tie and lifted the San Rafael Pacifics to a 9-6 win over Vallejo on Sunday at Wilson Park. The win gave the Pacifics a three-game lead over the Admirals for second place in the Pacific Association with five games to play.

The game was back-and-forth in the early going, with San Rafael scoring in the top of the first on an RBI-single by Axel Johnson. Vallejo answered with three in the bottom of the inning. Tillman Pugh singled in one run, Zach Files tripled in another and Jacob Wark singled in the third.

A two-run homer by San Rafael’s Jay Carp tied the game in the second. Johnson singled in another run in the third to make it 4-3.

Wark singled in two in the bottom of the third to give Vallejo a 5-4 lead. Ermindo Escobar doubled in a run in the sixth to tie the score. Raul Navarro followed with an RBI-single to put San Rafael back up.

O’Koyea Dickson singled in a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie it at 6-6.

Dempster’s home run came off of Peter Reyes (0-2). Michael Klein (1-0) earned the win.

Wark, Files, Pugh and Vladimir Gomez each had two hits for Vallejo. Navarro had three hits for San Rafael.
