The Vallejo Admirals could not overcome a five-run third inning and lost to the visiting San Rafael Pacifics 7-4 on Wednesday in the second game of a Pacific Association series at Wilson Park.

The series is tied at a game apiece.

Admirals first baseman Lydell Moseby connected for a three-run homer in the fifth to make it 5-4 but the Pacifics scored single runs in the seventh and eighth to pull away. Joseph Hicks and Aaron Brill singled ahead of Moseby’s blast.

San Rafael starting pitcher Michael Ormseth (4-0) went nine innings, allowing nine hits and four runs. He struck out nine and walked just one.

Admirals ace David Dinelli (2-5) went seven innings, allowing six hits and six runs, five earned. He fanned four and walked three. Joe Watson pitched the final two innings and allowed one run while fanning three.

The Pacifics hit Dinelli well in the third inning, scoring five times. Chase Tucker cracked a grand slam to highlight the inning.

The Admirals scored their other run in the third when Moseby singled and scored on a ground ball from Alian Silva.

Brent Gillespie hit his ninth homer of the year, a solo shot in the eighth for the Pacifics (18-14).

Darian Sandford, Brill and Moseby all had two hits for the Admirals, who fell to 13-19 overall. Sandford stole his league-leading 23rd base.

Kyle Adie and Gillespie both had two hits for San Rafael.

The two teams conclude the series on Thursday.
