The Vallejo Admirals clinched a league playoff spot with a 6-4 win over the Martinez Clippers on Sunday at Wilson Park.
It was the Admirals’ home finale in the Pacific Association campaign. The top four teams in the league make the conference playoffs.
Martinez (26-50) scored three in the first but Vallejo scored one in the first, one in the fourth and then three more in the fifth to lead for good.
In the fifth, Chevy Clarke had an RBI double, Nick Crouse knocked in Brandon Fischer with a single and Clarke scored on a wild pitch for the 4-3 lead. Vallejo added an insurance run in the eighth when Vlad Gomez’s double scored Fornaci.
Mike Anthony earned the win as he went seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs. He fanned three and walked three. Brian McKenna earned his second save in as many saves with a scoreless ninth.
The Admirals (35-41) conclude the regular season with two at San Rafael and then two more at Napa. They will head to Sonoma or San Rafael for the league playoffs next Saturday.
After Sunday, Vallejo and Pittsburg are tied for third place.
