SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Harley Lopez’s single in the bottom of the ninth off of Jake Ehret lifted the San Rafael Pacifics to a 4-3 win over the Vallejo Amirals on Sunday.
The Admirals got a terrific pitching performance from Skylar Janisse, who was making his first start for Vallejo. Janisse pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing just three runs on eight hits. He had three strikeouts and one walk and made just 99 pitches.
Ehret came on in relief with one out and nobody on and allowed consecutive singles to Jimmy Lunardelli, Ermindo Escobar and Lopez.
Andrew Chin pitched six solid innings for the Pacifics, allowing three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Vallejo took a 1-0 lead in the third when Jacob Wark dove for the plate on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Tillman Pugh. Wark dislodged the ball from San Rafael catcher Escobar to score the run.
San Rafael tied it in the bottom of the inning when Raul Navarro doubled in a run.
The Admirals went up 3-1 on a two-run home run by Nick Akins Sr. in the sixth. It was Akins’ seventh home run of the year. Again, the Pacifics tied it right up in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double by Mike Annone.
Vallejo returns home on Tuesday for a 6:35 p.m. game with Napa. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
