VALLEJO, Calif. — The Vallejo Admirals did it once again on Saturday, allowing six runs in the top of the 10th, then rallying for seven runs in the bottom of the 10th for a 13-12 win over the Salina Stockade at Wilson Park.

It was the third improbable comeback in four games for the Admirals, who won their fifth consecutive game and ninth out of 10. It’s the longest winning streak for Vallejo in a single season since the Admirals won five in a row August 1-5, 2017. The Admirals had a seven-game winning streak that bridged the end of the 2017 season and the beginning of 2018.

Chevy Clarke singled in Nick Akins Sr. with the game-winning run. Graylin Derke hit a grand slam earlier in the 10th inning to get Vallejo going. Akins and Montrell Marshall hit back-to-back solo homers in the first to get Vallejo off to a 2-0 lead. The newest Admiral, former major leaguer O’Koyea Dickson, hit a solo home run in the third to make it 3-0. Vallejo added three in the fifth to build a 6-0 lead.

Meantime, starter Carl Brice didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning. However, he tired in the seventh, allowing two hits with one out. Harold Myles relieved and walked the bases loaded before surrendering a grand slam to Zane Gelphman. The Stockade ended up with five in the inning, then tied it in the ninth when Cam Hatch walked in a run.

Doubles by Cos Canella, Gelphman and Chuck Rocker keyed Salina’s six-run top of the 10th. The Pacific Association uses a tie-breaker in extra innings with each team starting with runners on first and second.

The Admirals travel to Napa on Sunday for a 1:05 p.m. game. Vallejo returns to Wilson Park on Tuesday for a 6:35 p.m. game with Sonoma. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
