NAPA, Calif. — Billy Felo pitched seven strong innings and Josh Montelongo hit a three-run home run to help Napa overcome a strong pitching performance from Dakota Freese on Friday in a 7-4 Silverado win at Napa Valley College.

Freese went 6 1/3 innings and allowed just three hits and struck out 11. However, he was tagged for six runs (four earned). Freese fell to 3-4 on the season.

Vallejo took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tillman Pugh singled and then Wilkyns Jimenez hit a single to left with Pugh running. The ball was misplayed by Napa leftfielder Nick Ultsch and the error allowed Pugh the score. Napa tied it up in the bottom of the inning on a delayed double steal with Willie Salas scoring after Jordan Garr stole second and Admirals catcher Ricky Gingras threw through.

Vallejo went back up 2-1 in the third. Matt Eureste led off with an infield single. One out later, Vladimir Gomez singled him in.

Freese retired nine in a row bridging the first-fourth innings, striking out seven of those hitters. However, with one out in the fourth, he walked Jacob Bissell. One out later, he walked Johnny Knight. Montelongo fell behind 0-2 but then launched the ball deep over the left field fence.

Freese left in the seventh and both inherited runners scored on a double by Salas off of John LaRossa.

Vallejo returns home on Saturday for a 1:05 p.m. game with Salina. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
