The Vallejo Admirals clinched a series win over the host Pittsburg Diamonds after a 5-4 win on Wednesday during a Pacific Association series at City Park.
Roman Gomez threw seven strong innings, allowing three runs, for the victory. Luis Furerres notched his first save for the Admirals, who improved to 19-31 overall, 4-7 in the second half.
Alian Silva had a two-run double in the second to score Gerald Bautista and Aaron Brill and Gadiez Baez added a run-scoring single to score Lydell Moseby.
A two-run homer from Joseph Hicks in the fifth made it 5-0.
The Diamonds (25-25, 6-5) chipped away at the lead, getting two solo homers but Vallejo closed it out.
This was Vallejo’s first series win against Pittsburg all season.
The two teams will finish out the series at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Brent Adheen is expected to get the start.
