SONOMA, Calif. — Pedro Barrios hit a three-run home run to help lead the Sonoma Stompers to a 6-2 win over the Vallejo Admirals on Thursday at Arnold Field.

Carl Brice, who came into the game having allowed just one run in his two previous starts, struggled through four innings and took the loss. Brice allowed five runs on eight hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Brice fell to 2-1 on the season.

Zach Files homered for Vallejo but it was a solo shot. The Admirals managed just two runs on three hits in six innings against Sonoma starter Vijay Patel. Patel, a Santa Rosa native, struck out eight against one walk to win his first decision of the year.

Brice was in trouble from the start, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in the first. Rob DeAngelis singled in one run and Chris Kwitzer knocked in the other with a sacrifice fly. It could have been worse as the Stompers loaded the bases with one out but Brice struck out Brock Hartley and got Jacob Barfield to pop out to end the inning.

Nick Crouse singled in a run for Vallejo in the second to make it 2-1. Barrios hit his first home run of the season in the fourth to make it 5-1.

The Admirals return home against San Rafael on June 15 (5:05 p..m.). That afternoon, the Admirals are hosting Christmas in June at Wilson Park – a free baseball clinic for kids 5-12 sponsored by the Salvation Army of Solano County.
