SONOMA, Calif. – The Admirals offense finally woke up in the ninth, rallying for three runs. But Sonoma closer Jacob Cox came on for the final two outs to nail down his fourth save of the year on Friday, finishing off a 4-3 Sonoma win.

Jacob Wark doubled in one run in the ninth. Nick Crouse knocked in another on a groundout and Wark came home on a wild pitch. But Cox struck out Joe Torre to end it.

Vijay Patel was strong on the mound for Sonoma, tying the club record with 12 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings. He left after allowing his second hit, a double by Chevy Clarke.

Jesse Remington was a hard-luck loser, allowing only one earned run in 4 2/3 innings. But he was touched for three unearned runs in the fifth when he was chased. A Zach Files error keyed the inning. Chris Kwitzer, Miles Williams and Bronson Butcher had RBI-singles for Sonoma.

The Stompers first run came in the second amid some nifty work by Remington. The first three hitters reached on singles, loading the bases with no outs. But Remington got Butcher to hit into a double play. Kwitzer scored on the play, but the damage was minimized.

The Admirals travel to San Rafael on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Vallejo will be back home on Tuesday, June 25 against Sonoma at 6:35. Tickets, information and the complete 2019 schedule are online at VallejoAdmirals.com.
