VALLEJO, Calif. — Jacob Wark and Tillman Pugh homered and four Admirals had three hits as the Vallejo offense pounded out a 12-4 win over Salina on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Park.

Mike Melendez got the win, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Melendez improved to 3-2 on the season.

Salina scored a run in the top of the first, but it was all Vallejo the rest of the way. Chevy Clarke doubled in Pugh and later scored on Vladimir Gomez’s sacrifice fly to put the Admirals up for good. Wark hit a two-run homer to right in the bottom of the second to make it 4-1. Pugh then homered to center in the fifth to make it 5-1.

Salina scored three unearned runs in the sixth on Cos Canella’s two-run single and Eric Kozak’s RBI-single. The Admirals got two of those back in the bottom of the inning with Wark knocking in one with a single and Matt Eureste scoring the other on a sacrifice fly.

Vallejo blew it open with a five-run eighth. Eureste singled in one run, then Nick Akins Sr. hit a sacrifice fly. Valdimir Gomez doubled in two and Wilkyns Jimenez singled in the final run.

Pugh went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and the home run. Gomez went 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Jimenez went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Wark finished 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.
