SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Mike Annone hit a three-run homer to help lead the San Rafael Pacifics to a 4-2 win over Vallejo on Friday night at Albert Park.

The Pacifics now hold a two-game lead on the Admirals for second place in the Pacific Association. Both teams have seven games to play.

Vladimir Gomez led off the game with a home run for Vallejo. Admirals starter Mike Melendez retired the first 11 hitters he faced. However, with two outs in the fourth, he walked Axel Johnson, then allowed a single to Zane Gelphman. Annone followed with a bomb to right field to put San Rafael up.

That was enough for Justin Watland (2-0), who went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk to earn the win. Melendez (4-4) went 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits with one strikeout and two walks in taking the loss.

Tillman Pugh tripled and scored on a groundout for Vallejo’s other run.

Jailen Peguero worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 15th save.

The Admirals return home on Saturday for a 1:05 p.m. game against Salina. The game will be live streamed on BayAreaSports.TV as well as broadcast on vallejoadmirals.com and the Mixlr app. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
