NAPA, Calif. — Dakota Freese pitched seven strong innings and Vladimir Gomez, Nick Akins Sr. and Jacob Wark all homered to help lead the Vallejo Admirals to an 8-1 win over Napa at Minor Family Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Admirals now have 13 home runs in their last four games.

Freese evened his record at 5-5 on the year after allowing just one run (earned) on four hits with nine strikeouts and four walks. Freese retook the Pacific Association strikeout lead at 75, passing teammate Carl Brice (69).

The Admirals gave Freese all the support he would need in the top of the first. Gomez led off with his fifth home run of the season. Matt Erueste then singled and stole second. Graylin Derke drove in Eureste with a pop fly single on the infield.

Silveradoes starter Devontae Glenn (0-1) hit two batters and walked another to start the second and was replaced by Gabe Katich. Chris Fornaci grounded into a double play to score a run and make it 3-0.

In the third, Akins hit a solo home run to left with one out, his 13th on the year. Montrell Marshall and Derke followed with back-to-back doubles for another run.

Josh Montelongo doubled leading off the sixth for Napa. Consecutive ground outs brought him home for the Silveradoes only run with Jordan Anderson getting the RBI.

Jacob Wark led off the ninth with a home run to center, his fourth. Eureste later added a two-run single.

The Admirals return home on July 31 against Salina at 6:35 p.m. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
