SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Skylar Janisse was terrific on the mound in his third start for the Vallejo Admirals but it wasn’t enough as San Rafael scored seven runs late to pull out a come-from-behind 9-3 win at Albert Field on Thursday night.

Janisse took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Corey Dempster hit a solo home run leading off the inning to tie the score. One out later, Janisse allowed consecutive singles to Ermindo Escobar, Jimmy Lunardelli and San Francisco-native Dante Biagini to give San Rafael a 4-3 lead. The Pacifics then scored five in the eighth to break the game open.

Janisse allowed four runs (all earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and no walks in 6 1/3 innings. It was his third impressive start in a row for Vallejo.

The Admirals got on the board in the first when Nick Akins Sr. doubled in two runs. San Rafael tied it in the bottom of the inning on Axel Johnson’s 10th home run of the year, a two-run shot.

Vallejo went up 3-2 in the third. Akins singled with one out and Chip White walked the next two hitters. With two outs, Ricky Gingras hit an infield single to drive in the go-ahead run.

It stayed that way until the seventh. Janisse retired nine batters in a row at one point.

White got the win to improve to 3-5 on the season, 3-3 since joining San Rafael.

The Admirals begin a five-game homestand on Friday with first place Sonoma coming in. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
