From the Vallejo Times-Herald

Like their neighbors, the San Francisco Giants, the Vallejo Admirals seem destined to stay around the .500 mark.

The Admirals are exactly 31-31 after an 8-0 setback to the Napa Silverados on Friday as they were swept in the two-game, Pacific Association series at Napa Valley College.

Napa pitcher Billy Felo (7-2) threw a complete-game shutout, striking out eight and allowing just six hits and one walk. The losing pitcher was Frank Valentino (4-6), who went 5 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and six runs. Reliever Tim Holmes allowed two more runs in one inning of work.

The Silverados (26-36) scored five times in the first inning as Nicco Toni blasted a three-run homer, Kendall Coleman had a sacrifice fly and Josh Montelongo stole home.

Ray Jones had three hits while Toni, Montelongo, Devon Ramirez and Nick Stoli all had two hits, part of a 14-hit attack.

Vlad Gomez had his 17th double and Nick Akins Sr. had his 11th double.

The Admirals host the Pittsburg Diamonds on Saturday and Sunday in a battle for third place. Sunday is Jewish Heritage Day at Wilson Park.

Vallejo then hosts the Sonoma Stompers on Tuesday and Wednesday. There are 18 games left in the regular season.
