MARTINEZ, CALIF. – On the same day the team said farewell to its biggest star, five different Admirals homered en route to a 14-4 victory over the Martinez Clippers at Waterfront Park. Earlier in the day, the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League signed Admirals outfielder Tillman Pugh, the 2017 Pacific Association Most Valuable Player. “Congratulations to Tillman,” said Admirals manager PJ Phillips. “He deserves it.”

In the Saturday night tilt, Nick Akins homered twice, and the Admirals received round-trippers from David Kiriakos, Graylin Derke, Vlad Gomez, and Chris Fornaci. Vallejo led 8-0 after 3.5 innings and 11-0 after the top of the fourth.

Michael Pope picked up his second victory of the year, yielding three runs and six hits over six innings. Peter Reyes and Jalen Miller mopped up for the Admirals, who are off to a 7-2 start and remain in first place. The Clippers, who tallied home runs from Will Decker and Devin Carter, fell to 1-8. Starter Jason Harper took the loss in his season debut.
