VALLEJO, Calif. — Ethan Gibbons threw six strong innings and the Sonoma Stompers got home runs from Chris Kwitzer and Pedro Barrios to cool off the Vallejo Admirals with an 11-4 win on Thursday night at Wilson Park.

O’Koyea Dickson had a solo home run for the Admirals, but the offense struggled most of the night. Vallejo, which had scored 189 runs in winning 15 of its last 18 games managed just six hits on the evening.

Carl Brice (3-5) couldn’t find the plate early, walking six in his 1 2/3 innings. He was chased during a four-run second despite not allowing a hit.

Gibbons, making just his fifth start in 21 appearances on the year, allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

Dickson’s solo home run in the third was the first hit allowed by Gibbons. It was Dickson’s sixth home run in 10 games with Vallejo.

Kwitzer’s two-run homer in the fifth made it 6-1. Barrios hit a three-run homer in the ninth.

Trailing 7-1 in the sixth, the Admirals tried to get back into the game. Matt Eureste singled in one run and Chris Fornaci then doubled to left to knock in another. However, Eureste was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

The Admirals fell a game behind second place San Rafael with eight games remaining in the regular season. Vallejo travels to San Rafael on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup. The Admirals return home on Saturday for a 1:05 p.m. game against Salina. For more information, go to vallejoadmirals.com or call 707-641-1111.
