The Admirals lost a pitchers’ duel to the San Rafael Pacifics 2-1 on Wednesday in the second game of a Pacific Association series at Albert Park.

Vallejo led 1-0 in the seventh but San Rafael tied the game 1-all in the bottom half of the inning and then went ahead for good after a controversial solo homer from Maikel Jova in the eighth that appeared to be foul.

Admirals starting pitcher Kida De La Cruz went six excellent innings, allowing two hits while striking out six. He walked four. The loss went to Joe Watson (1-1), who allowed two runs in his two innings of work.

San Rafael starting pitcher Celson Polanco (3-3) earned the win, allowing just six hits and two walks over 8 2/3 innings. He struck out five. J.R. Bunda picked up his seventh save as he struck out Joseph Hicks to end the game.

The Admirals scored their lone run in the seventh as Gerald Bautista doubled and scored on Wilfredo Petit’s RBI single.

The Pacifics’ Johnny Bekakis tied it in the bottom half of the seventh when Petit attempted a pick-off attempt of Zach Pace at second with the bases loaded. Pace got in a run down, Bekakis stole home.

Petit had two hits for the Admirals.

The two teams conclude their series at 7 p.m. on Thursday to conclude the first-half slate. The Stompers clinched the first-half title with an 8-7 win over Pittsburg on Wednesday.
